Downton Abbey Afternoon A Delightful Success
While I am still out here in the Orient, word has come to me through my beloved sister, Lady Elsie, that the Downton Abbey themed afternoon tea event at the Tea Room was a great success. Guests were entertained with glorious renditions of old favourites, such as Nessun Dorma and Tuppence, from the beautiful and talented Julia Scott. I hear there were even some tears, so the young lady clearly touched a great many people with her wonderful singing! I wish I could have been there to hear it myself, but alas, the call of the exotic is still very strong.
Mr and Mrs Gearing really outdid themselves as well with the food, serving a variety of delicious sandwiches, sweets and cakes to cater for all tastes. I'm told the punch went down a treat as well, though I do hope there were no carefree shenanigans on the premises!
A reading of my own letter to my sister and an extract of a play from Mr Gearing and Lady Elsie kept the guests entertained, and two photographers, Sam and Charli, were there to document the event. I have been reliably informed that some of Sam's photographs are up on the Lady Rose's Facebook page already, and Charli's will shortly be up on the website to view - apparently she has some data updating to do on the site before they can be posted, though hopefully, this should not take too long.
Mr and Mrs Gearing are already making plans for their next event, so remember to keep your eyes open so that you don't miss out on these delightfully intimate and entertaining events.
I hope to write to you again very soon, and do write back when you can. I love to hear your opinions and ideas for future specials and events!
All my love and kind regards,
